Access to Sumata-kyo Onsen

Sumata-kyo Onsen is a unexplored area of the O-igawa water system. Sumata Gorge has famous peaks such as the Sumata three mountains, but it also serves as a base entry point to the deep southern part of the Southern Alps such as Mt. Kuro-hoshi-yama and Mt. Takatsuma-yama, which are difficult to approach..
If travelling by car, the route that goes back along the O-igawa River from Shizuoka-city or Shimada-city like the O-igawa Railway, goes up part of the same route to Hatanagi, which is the Southern Alps mountain climbing base. Drive with caution as there is a distance from the interchange and the road becomes narrower on the way.
If you use public transportation, go to Senzu using the O’-iawa Railway and then take a bus.
