【Ogawa onsen Trailhead for Mt. Asahi-dake/ Kitamata mountain hut 】
The area is the closest to Niigata in Toyama Prefecture. Public transportation is available from the Niigata side via the Echigo Tokimeki Railway Nihonkai Hisui Line, and from the Toyama side via the Ainokaze Toyama Railway, and a cab from Tomari Station. It is about 12 km from Tomari Station.
By car, the Asahi Interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway is the closest, also about 12 km away.
You cannot go beyond Hotel Ogawaryo by car, so park your car in the parking lot in front of the hotel.
Only cabs can enter the Kitamata Hut, where the Asahi-dake trailhead is located, but private cars are not allowed.
It will take about 3.5 to 4 hours on foot. Please check the cab fare.
Hotel guests are provided with a shuttle bus to Kurobe Unazuki Onsen Station.
