Gandate canyon is an unexplored region at the foot of Mt. Ontake in the northern part of Gero City, Gifu Prefecture, where Gero Onsen hot springs are located.It is said that Hidakosaka has more than 200 confirmed waterfalls with a drop of more than 5 meters, and is recognized as Gifu’s treasure No. 1 as a town of waterfalls.
Gandate canyon is a cliff created by the lava flow of Mt Ontake, but there are hiking trails that lead to the canyon and waterfalls.
